How your electricity rate is benchmarked
As an embedded network operator, Realm must publish how its electricity charges compare to your local area retailer’s standing offer, as required under the Australian Energy Regulator‘s Retail Exempt Selling Guideline (Condition 7).
Your local area retailer is the default retailer for your distribution network: the one you are placed with if you do not actively choose a plan. Its standing offer is set by regulation and resets on 1 July each year.
How standing offers are regulated
- Default Market Offer (DMO): set annually by the Australian Energy Regulator. Applies in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia.
- QCA notified prices: set by the Queensland Competition Authority. Applies in regional Queensland.
- Regulated standing offers: applies in the ACT and Tasmania.
